Their current lot of fine jewellery consists of exquisite repoussé neckpieces, Thewa rings, intricately enamelled jewellery and much more. The collection of jewels has been carefully chosen by Saffronart’s expert team and consists of vintage pendants, necklaces, earrings as well as unique pieces like brooches, sarpech (turban ornament), pacheli bangles, hasli, baju band (hand ornaments) and navratna pendants.
The highlight of the exhibition is the antique diamond brooch with an emerald-cut diamond, weighing 10.85 carats approximately as the center hero, sourced from a Distinguished Parsi Family Collection since the late 1950s.
Highlighting the beauty of emeralds are the emerald, rubelite & rose cut diamond pendant and the cabochon emerald with rose cut diamond ear pendants. The unique polki & emerald earrings with each designed as a triangular rose-cut diamond, suspending a drop-shaped emerald with foliate carvings stands out amongst the lots.
From the traditional looks the auction house offer intricately enameled kundan polki pacheli bangles with a suspended gold chain tassel. Perfect for a royal groom, on offer is an intricately worked kundan polki Sarpech (A turban ornament) with tumbled Emerald beads. Also, going under the hammer are a ruby brooch from Hyderabad and a crescent shaped hinged ‘Hasli’ necklace set with emeralds, rubies & uncut diamonds.
For the ones in love with classic jewellery, on offer are various rings with ruby or emerald centerpieces with diamond surrounds, diamond ear studs with rubies or yellow diamonds, flexible diamond bracelets, various pearl string necklaces.
Saving the best for the last, my three favorites from the lot of 60 pieces are the turquoise ruby & diamond ring with a 9.99 carat center turquoise, black onyx & pearl brooch and the stylized Navratna pendant with wreath & bow motifs sourced from a royal family in North India and dates back to 1930.
